September 26, 2012. MRI and IAC!

Luke had an MRI last Wednesday to rule out spinal concerns before his surgery. Luke's MRI results were normal, and we are all so grateful!  Surgery is scheduled for Thursday morning, October 4, 7:00 AM at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.  Luke needs to arrive at 6:00 AM, so it will be quite an early morning for our family!  Dr. Mehlman will make a small incision above each heal, in order to loosen his tendons.  The incision is so small that it doesn't even require a stitch!  Luke will wear casts for 3 weeks as he heals.  When the casts are removed, he will be fitted for his shoes and bar.

Luke had a one month follow-up exam today at the International Adoption Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.  I was so pleased to learn how well Luke has done in his short time in the States! Luke's head circumference was not yet on the growth chart in late August.  He is now at the 3rd percentile.  He has grown over an inch taller!  Luke has gained 4 pounds since his initial visit on August 20,2012...just over 4 weeks ago!  That brings him from the 3rd percentile to the 15th percentile when compared to other boys Luke's age!  This is just such a blessing!  I couldn't be more happy that the baby is so healthy!
I have to mention that Luke is walking up a storm!  He has been primarily cruising, until now!  He walks all over the house, and just laughs the entire time!  What a joyful boy!

September 4, 2012! 22 Months Old!

Well, Luke is 22 months old now, and growing bigger and smarter each day!  He had an Audiology screening and an Ophthalmology screening down at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center last week.  Both were pretty typical and uneventful, which is great!  Luke did so well, as he had 3 appointments with 3 different doctors last week!

Luke went to his first Labor Day cookout at Bob and Koko's on Sunday afternoon!  He was social, and playful, and the life of the party!  He played with lots of wonderful friends, and ate his first cookie!  Everyone was so excited to meet Luke, and told me what a beautiful baby he was!  It was so wonderful to see him so engaged with new people... he really enjoyed himself, and played without a complaint the entire afternoon!  A friend of Bob and Koko's said that she has never seen such a good baby before, and was impressed that Luke is so content for such a long period of time!

On Monday, Labor Day, Luke's Aunt Trish and Uncle Jerry stopped in for lunch and a visit with the baby.  Luke has his first Ohio State University sweatshirt now, and a Cincinnati Red's baseball!  He was also given lots of train souvenirs from a train station in Tennessee, where Aunt Trish and Uncle Jerry live.  Later that evening, we had a visit from Aunt Deb and Uncle John.  Uncle John drove Luke around in a cardboard box, and Luke didn't want them to leave!  He had a great day, and is truly enjoying time spent with family and new friends!  He is just a very happy baby!
